WE SURVIVED!!!

We survived Ike!!! Our power went out at 1:15 am Saturday morning, the eye passed over us at 2:30 am. At 5:00 we heard water dripping on the floor, and discovered we had 2 leaks. One was from the air conditioner vent in the living room and the other was from the light fixture in the guest bedroom. We put towels and pots underneath each of them and tried to go back to sleep. The wind and rain were so hard that neither of us were able to sleep much. All night we were looking out the front door to see if the street was flooded, thank goodness it never did. By 8:00 this morning the wind and rain had subsided enough to go outside. At that time we discovered all the shingles we had lost were all over our yard. We went driving around town and there are lots of trees, fences and power lines down everywhere. And of course there is flooding all over the place. My parents have a generator and are running their refrigerator, so we are going to eat dinner over there tonight and tomorrow we will open our freezer and cook all the meat we have.
We heard that they are expecting power to be off for up to 18 days. Let's hope not!! We were told that FEMA is on there way with lots of ice. The city we live in is being told to boil water before drinking. But I guess we can handle that since many people around don't even have running water.

These postings could be far and few between due to the lack of power. We either have to use our cell phones as a modem or come to my parents house where they have an air card. I will post pictures of the damage in a little while.
